Short-time working at Södra's harbour operations
Print
SWEDEN (News release) -- Södra Skog is introducing short-time working at its harbour operations in Mönsterås. Due to a reduction in demand in the UK and the Republic of Ireland during the ongoing pandemic, Södra Wood has introduced short-time working at its production facility in Mönsterås and the harbour operations are affected as a consequence of this.

"When demand falls rapidly, we need to swiftly adapt our operations. We manage the loading of sawn timber, and quayside loading and unloading, and when this decreases, we need to follow suit. Thanks to the option of short-time working, we stand prepared to quickly scale up and handle production volumes when demand returns ," said Sofia Petersson, Wood Supply Manager Södra Skog.

Short-time working means a reduction in working hours for our employees at the affected facilities, in accordance with the regulations for the economic support that the Swedish government has announced. Södra Skog's harbour operations will be temporarily reduced by 40 percent. Considering the rapid changes in our operating environment, the operations will be continuously reviewed.

"We are distributing the work tasks in our operations in Mönsterås to the greatest extent possible and we are endeavouring to maintain our service level for loading and unloading, even with a smaller workforce on site," said Sofia Petersson.
