The geopolitical situation caused by the crisis in Ukraine and the intensified COVID-19 restrictions in China have reduced the orders at Valmet's valve factory in Helsinki, Finland, during spring. The exceptional situation has particularly impacted the factory's oil and gas projects. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in China also continues to cause challenges related to component availability and logistics.

Andritz has received an order from Kim Tin MDF Chon Thanh Corporation to supply a chip washing and pressurized refining system for its new MDF production line in Minh Thanh Commune, Binh Phuoc province, Vietnam. Start-up is planned for the 3Q 2023.

To broaden its offering for tissue machines, Valmet launches a new polyurethane roll cover, Valmet Press Roll Cover PL. The roll cover's wear-resistant material and adaptive structure are developed to cope with the harsh operating conditions in tissue production, thus leading to longer lifetime of roll cover and energy savings.

A fire broke out at Valmet's Rautpohja facility in Jyväskylä, Finland, on Saturday, May 7, around 10:40 am ET, company said in a statement. Due to the fire, evacuation of employees was carried out. The fire caused minor injuries to one employee, who received treatment in hospital, but has already been released.

Natron-Hayat Pulp and Paper Mill in Maglaj, Bosnia-Herzegovina, has ordered a press technology upgrade from Valmet. The delivery includes two refurbished Twin Roll Presses and additional equipment and services to secure the trouble-free operation of the presses.

The total maximum value of the order is around Euro 30 million.

The rebuilt plant is scheduled to start up before the end of 2022.

ANDRITZ has signed an agreement with the Sofidel Group to upgrade hood technology at its Kisa tissue mill in Sweden.

Start-up is scheduled for the second quarter of 2023.

A project of this size and scope is typically valued at around EUR 150-170 million.

BID Group announces the continued partnership with Canfor to deliver a sawmill modernization project for its Urbana, Arkansas operation. Through its industry-leading wood processing technologies and integrated solutions offering, BID will manage, design, build, equip, install, and provide start-up services for the project. Work on site will begin in the 3Q 2022.

The target of the investment is to ensure a smooth start-up, to optimize the equipment efficiency and to achieve premium board quality, Valmet announced.

Work on site will begin late in 2022 and startup of the sawmill is scheduled for the 1Q 2024.

The start-up of the new production line PM14 is scheduled for 2023.

Andritz has received an order from Papierfabriek Doetinchem, Netherlands, to upgrade the wet sections of its PM1 and PM3 special paper machines. The start-ups are scheduled for 2022.

Starting from January 1, 2022, Valmet has decided to change its financial reporting structure to better highlight the performance of Valmet's businesses. LD Celulose S.A, a joint venture between the Austrian company Lenzing and the Brazilian company Dexco, invested about $1.3 billion in a 500,000 tonne/year dissolving wood pulp mill in the Triângulo Mineiro region in Brazil. Valmet delivered the key process islands and integrated automation solutions for the mill. The equipment operations and the production ramp-up in the new mill have now successfully started.

Valmet will deliver a TwinRoll™ Evolution wash press and a screw conveyor to Nippon Paper Industries Co. Ltd. Akita mill. The start-up is scheduled for end of May 2023.

Kari Saarinen has decided to resign from his position as Valmet's CFO due to his share trades in Neles during the merger process and to minimize the negative impacts of this on Valmet's reputation. All Executive Team members should have used good judgement and refrained from trading in shares while merger discussions and preparations were ongoing. The employment relationship will end in accordance with Kari Saarinen's executive agreement, while his working obligation ends at the end of April.

Caverion will implement process electrification at the Metsä Fibre bioproduct mill in Kemi, Finland. Metsä Fibre is part of the Metsä Group.
