Valmet supplies IQ Web Inspection System to Stora Enso's plant in Forshaga, Sweden
Comment Print
Valmet will supply a Valmet IQ Web Inspection System (WIS) to Stora Enso's coating and laminating plant in Forshaga, Sweden. The new system will be installed on an extrusion coating line producing a new dispersion barrier paperboard for paper cups and food packaging.

Made without the traditional plastic layer, the process is more sustainable and sets tight margins for quality management. The high-quality board is liquid and grease resistant during use. It is also recyclable and breaks down like paper in the recycling process to provide a high yield of recovered fiber.

Valmet IQ Web Inspection System provides efficient and continuous online quality control to reduce the origins of web defects.

The 3rd generation Valmet IQ Web Inspection System (WIS) delivery includes Ultra-High resolution 8K dual-line TDI (Time Delay Integration) cameras with advanced image processing and synchronized high power stroboscopic LED lighting. Real-time and history defect maps, as well as defect details and trends are available from operator stations with precisely detailed defect classifications made by means of MIDA (Multiple Image Defect Analysis), multi-geometry inspection and the latest software algorithms based on artificial intelligence (AI).

Stora Enso Forshaga has an annual capacity of approximately 120,000 tonnes of barrier coating across two coating lines, with around 100 employees.
