Tolko Stud Mills Extend Downtime
Print

Vernon, British Columbia, Canada, 06 January 2010 -- Because of continued poor market conditions, Tolko Industries Ltd. has announced the extensions of curtailments at its Armstrong and Soda Creek studmill divisions. The two-week holiday curtailments that commenced 19 December 2009, and were previously extended by another week, have now been extended by a minimum of an additional two weeks at both operations, pending market and cost improvements.

These curtailments remove the equivalent of 390 million board feet on an annualized basis. Approximately 315 employees are affected by these curtailments.

Tolko Industries Ltd. is a private, Canadian-owned forest products company based in Vernon, British Columbia. Tolko is a major producer and marketer of lumber, veneer, plywood, oriented strand board, and kraft papers, with manufacturing operations across western Canada. The company’s Woodlands operations have received third-party certification of their sustainable forest management systems.
