The Final Word by Jim Thompson

I cannot think of a more heart-warming technology triumph in recent times which can eclipse the Chilean mine workers rescue. We of a technical bent are often criticized by those not understanding what we do. However, in this case, anyone could clearly discern the difficulty and the objective of pulling those 33 miners to safety. Kudos to all involved, including the geologists who actually figured out where they were. Technology was the reason they were there, and more importantly, technology found a way out for them.
