Tembec Workers Strike at Matane, Quebec, Pulp Mill

Montreal, Quebec, Canada, 10 May 2011 – Following a breakdown in labor discussions between company representatives and the union representatives at the Tembec high-yield pulp mill in Matane, Quebec, unionized employees did not report to work this morning and went out on strike. Consequently, all production activities have been suspended indefinitely.

The company is monitoring the situation closely and is putting into place measures that will ensure uninterrupted supply to its customers.

The plant in Matane employs 143 people, of which 99 are unionized, and ships to customers in North America, Europe, and Asia.
