HOLLAND, Michigan (From news reports) -- After 58 years of operation under the Patterson family, Shoreline Container recently was sold.
New-Indy Containerboard LLC -- a 50/50 joint venture between the Kraft Group and Indianapolis-based Schwarz Partners LP -- acquired the company, which designs and produces custom containers and packaging solutions.
Operations will continue at the Shoreline Container facilities in West Michigan and will carry its customer-focused and community-minded approach under new leadership, according to a news release.
Shoreline Container President and CEO Bruce Patterson and his wife, Jane, purchased principal ownership of the company in 2006 and previously served as co-owners beginning in 1985.
"For nearly six decades, our family has built Shoreline Container into the company it is today by creating excellent products, providing first-class customer service, instilling a positive workplace culture and giving back to the community," the Pattersons said in a statement.
"When we began the process of looking for a buyer 18 months ago, our highest priority was to find someone who shared those values and would continue to serve our clients, employees and community with the same professionalism and care our family has delivered for generations," the statement reads.
"We are delighted to have found that in New-Indy, a company also built on family values and customer service, and believe the future of Shoreline Container is in great hands."
With the acquisition, New-Indy will add Shoreline's two packaging plants in Holland and Zeeland to its existing 12 facilities throughout the United States. The current management team of Shoreline Container will remain in place, and Bob Zuker, chief operations officer of Shoreline, will oversee the transition and optimization of both plants.
The acquisition was finalized April 17, and New-Indy will begin operations immediately.
"We are honored and excited to carry on the Shoreline brand through this acquisition," said Richard Hartman, COO of New-Indy.
"Bruce and Jane Patterson have set a standard of excellence both through their operations and in the community. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue serving Shoreline customers and the West Michigan region with the highest-caliber raw materials, finished product and service experience."
