Cascades announces the temporary shutdown of one of its two tissue paper machines at its St. Helens, Oregon facility. The machine has an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons of tissue made from virgin fibre, and supplies the Company's converting plants, primarily the Scappoose, Oregon facility. Production of the second machine, located in a separate building, is not impacted.

Metsä Tissue's, part of Metsä Group, renewed tissue paper machine at the Mänttä mill has moved from the trial run phase to continuous production. The renewed paper machine will be used to produce fresh fibre-based tissue paper products especially for the Finnish market. The upgrade will increase the production capacity of the tissue paper machine by 15 per cent, as well as improve product quality and energy and production efficiency.

Weyerhaeuser Company announced that as of this morning a work stoppage involving members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers union is impacting its operations in Oregon and Washington. Weyerhaeuser has approximately 1,200 employees who are members of IAM, including employees in the company's Wood Products and Timberlands organizations.

Canfor Corporation is announcing reduced operating schedules effective September 12, 2022 at its Swedish facilities due to a decrease in market demand. The reduced operating schedules will result in a 15% decrease in production capacity and are anticipated to be in effect through the fourth quarter.

Four people were injured, including one critically, from steam released from a valve at a Roanoke Rapids paper mill.

The decided production stop at Nordic Paper plant in Greåker, Norway, is planned for three days and is estimated to have marginal financial impact on the results of the Company in the third quarter. The production stop is due to the currently very high daily prices for electricity in Norway.

In its second-quarter results for 2022, Canfor said the Taylor Pulp Mill curtailment will continue until "more normal" transportation levels return to its pulp and paper mills.

The Interfor Board appointed Tom Temple of Kingston, Washington as a director of the Company. Mr. Temple, who is 65, is the former VP, Wood Products and Southern Resources of PotlatchDeltic, a diversified forest products company. Mr. Temple's appointment increased the number of directors from ten to eleven, while deepening the Board's operations and sales expertise in the U.S. in line with the Company's Board succession plan.

Association of Western Pulp & Paper Workers (AWPPW) workers went on strike at 12:30 a.m. Sunday on July 17th, 2022, over unfair labor practices (ULPs) at Graphics Packaging International in Portland, Oregon. AWPPW Local 78 members have overwhelmingly authorized a strike in response to the company's pattern of allegedly violating federal labor laws.
