Cascades, the leader in environmentally responsible packaging and hygiene product manufacturing, is proud to announce it has recently invested $3,560,000 to upgrade a strategic converting line at its Kingsey Falls tissue plant.

Hood Container expects to significantly increase its manufacturing capacity and raw materials purchases as a result of the upgrade.

The company expects the $80.5 million project to create up to 515 jobs.

Kruger announced to its employees a comprehensive diversification strategy to secure future operations of Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Limited contingent on timely endorsement by key industry partners. Kruger is proposing to invest up to $700 million to transform the mill into a modernized and sustainable manufacturing complex that will become one of the most competitive in the industry.

Unifor is encouraged by Kruger Inc.'s announcement that it plans to invest up to $700 million in its Corner Brook, N.L. mill to modernize the facility.

A major component of this investment is the complete rebuild and modernization of the woodyard at the Escanaba Mill.

In response to rising demand for high-quality, fiber-based sustainable packaging, Sappi North America announced that it is delivering commercial product to customers following the completion of Project Elevate, the $500 million conversion and expansion of Paper Machine No. 2 (PM2) at its Somerset Mill in Maine.

These additions will increase production by 20% by the end of 2025.

Kruger Products Inc. announced that its subsidiary, K.T.G. (USA) Inc. will be investing approximately $35 million in a new converting line for bathroom tissue and paper towels at its site in Memphis, TN. The installation is expected to be completed in Q2/2026 and will create about 20 jobs.

Ahlstrom, a global leader in sustainable specialty materials, has started a new state-of-the-art production line for molecular filtration media at its Turin site in Italy. This major investment strengthens Ahlstrom's leadership in the molecular filtration market and enhances its ability to serve the growing global demand for high-performance specialty materials. 

Officials said the company's TimberStrand facility near Monticello and Warren is expected to bring 200 "high quality" jobs to the region upon completion.

Kimberly-Clark has announced plans for a $130 million expansion of its Mobile facilities, adding a new production line to make hygiene products.

The expansion is expected to create approximately 35 new jobs, adding to the more than 600 people Green Bay Packaging currently employs in Conway County. The company also noted that this investment could potentially double the production capacity of the Arkansas Kraft facility.

Smurfit Westrock--the packaging company formed through the merger of Ireland's Smurfit Kappa and U.S.-based Westrock--has approved a $150 million (about R$840 million) investment to expand and modernize its operations in Brazil. The investment, already cleared by the board, is expected to be implemented over a period of 18 to 22 months.

This latest Euro 15 million investment in Saint-Séverin underscores Ahlstrom's enduring commitment to sustainable innovation.

Nordic Paper has decided to approve environmental investments of up to SEK 450 million relating to water at the Bäckhammar pulp and paper mill in Sweden. The investments are prerequisites in a new production permit for increasing production volume above the level permitted today.

The mill, which produces consumer tissue products, is adding a warehouse and building a new trailer yard.

The laboratory is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, and the investment value is approximately EUR 6 million.

Once fully ramped up, the machine will produce 420,000 tonnes of high-quality recycled containerboard annually, increasing Mondi's integration and enhancing security of supply for customers.

In its announcement, Pratt predicted the investment would lead to 5,000 new jobs across the US, including in key electoral states Arizona, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
