The Board of Directors of Norske Skog ASA has appointed Geir Drangsland as the new CEO as of 1 September. Drangsland succeeds Tore Hansesætre, who has decided to leave Norske Skog after more than 14 years in the company.

Following the rockslide and subsequent production stop at Saugbrugs PM6 (paper machine 6) in April this year, Norske Skog has decided to restart production at the previously idled PM5. The restart of PM5 allows Norske Skog to continue supplying SC magazine paper to its customers and keep its market position.

In the 18 months since the indefinite curtailment, the majority of employees took voluntary severance, and a small number chose to transfer to another Paper Excellence Canada mill. When fully operating, Catalyst Paper tiskwat employed approximately 200 people.

Weyerhaeuser Company announced the appointment of James "Joc" C. O'Rourke, President and CEO and a Director of The Mosaic Company, to the company's Board of Directors.

Timothy Hess has decided to step down from his position as President and Chief Executive Officer for health reasons, effective August 7, 2023. In addition, the Company's Board of Directors announced that following a comprehensive search process, it has selected Ross Bushnell to succeed Hess as Pixelle's President and Chief Executive Officer.

Vida's CEO Måns Johansson has been appointed President of Canfor Europe. Måns has been Vida's CEO since 2019 and before that sales manager for the group. Now he will assume the role of President of Canfor Europe while remaining as CEO of Vida.

The curtailment is currently scheduled to become effective July 29, 2023, until August 28, 2023.

Facilities affected include a paper mill in South Glens Falls, a warehouse and distribution center in Saratoga Springs, and a converting facility in Greenwich.

Susana Alejandro, current Director of Strategy and Corporate Development, will succeed Ramón Alejandro as Chairman of the Saica Group as of 1 July 2024.

Roseburg has announced that Grady Mulbery will retire from his position as President and CEO, effective Sept. 30, 2023. As part of this planned leadership succession, Roseburg's board of directors unanimously elected Chief Operating Officer Stuart Gray to succeed Mulbery as president and CEO, effective Oct. 1, 2023.

Sappi Stockstadt Mill is an integrated pulp and paper mill located in Germany, producing 145,000 tpa of pulp which is used to produce 220,000 tpa of coated and uncoated woodfree paper mainly sold into the European print market.

The curtailment will affect about 450 workers.

Metsä Board's folding boxboard capacity expansion at its Husum mill in Sweden is reaching its final phases before start-up. Once the expansion is completed, the mill's BM1 folding boxboard machine will be delivering 600,000 tonnes of premium lightweight folding boxboard every year to consumer packaging and food service end uses all around the world.
