Pixelle responds to emissions near Chillicothe, Ohio paper mill
Print

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (From news reports) -- Pixelle has responded to an inquiry regarding air quality emissions near its paper mill in Chillicothe.

Late last week, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency announced it had received four complaints about emissions from the mill over the last two weeks that it is in the process of investigating.

While Pixelle had not responded to a request for comment in time for publication of a story that appeared in the local newspaper on Sunday, it has done so since.

"We have received notice that some substance settled on cars adjacent to the mill last Friday," said Kristi Cain, vice president of human resources for Pixelle Specialty Solutions. "We are investigating, but at this point are unaware of any unusual operational issues at the mill that would have caused this type of emission. In the meantime, the mill has offered to pay for car washes for those impacted."
