Paper making ends at Domtar Port Huron, Michigan mill

PORT HURON, Mich. (From news reports) -- The last production line at the 130 year old Domtar Port Huron mill has been idled.

It was announced last year that the Port Huron mill would permanently close in the first quarter of 2021.

The paper maker says the capacity reduction program is to, "Improve operating margins and maximize productivity and cash flow."

Port Huron's mill as well three other Domtar facilities in the US are expected to close in the first quarter of 2021, affecting 780 employees in total.
