Print

Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, 24 May 2011 -- Nippon Paper Industries has been deeply committed to the restoration of operations at the Ishinomaki mill, which was damaged in the Tohoku-Pacific Ocean earthquake, and the mill's reopening is imminent.

Electrical power from the privately owned electrical power facility, which is the source of the power in the mill, is expected to be restored by August. Nippon Paper Industries will restart the production of printing and publication paper at Ishinomaki by the end of September. The company is planning to fully restore the major paper machines this year. Moreover, while determining the supply and demand balance going forward, the company will be studying the production system to maximize profits. The associated plan will be announced as soon as it takes concrete form.
