Nicol-Pack Imperial Modernizes its Board Machine
Comment Print

Helsinki, Finland 17 June 2014 -- Nicol-Pack Imperial Co. Ltd. will modernize its board machine BM 1 with Metso's leading quality control technology at the Murom paper mill in the Vladimir region, Russia. By installing advanced solutions, the company will be able to better control and boost the quality of its board grades, resulting in increased profitability.

The acquisition of the new quality control system is part of a project to rebuild the mill's BM 1 that produces core board and boxboard. Nicol-Pack's other two mills in Russia, located in Uchaly in the Ural region and Nizhny Novgorod, already have Metso's quality control technology.

"There were several reasons why we chose Metso to deliver the quality control system. First, as we have Metso's QCS in our other two mills, we are able to standardize our equipment. Second, Metso has been a reliable supplier. We have a good relationship with the company's personnel who have provided us with prompt answers to our questions," comments Nicol-Pack Imperial's General Director Dmitry Nikolaevich Semikin.

Metso's scope of delivery will consist of Metso IQ quality control solutions, including a Metso IQ Scanner with basis weight, moisture and caliper sensors, as well as basis weight and moisture MD controls. The delivery also includes IQ Dilution basis weight profiler actuators for a Nelba headbox and a basis weight CD control.

The order is included in the second quarter 2014 orders received by Metso's Automation segment. The value of the order will not be disclosed. Metso's equipment will be started up in the fourth quarter of 2014.
