Metso Supplies Boiler to Phoenix Pulp & Paper in Thailand

Helsinki, Finland, 18 March 2009 -- Metso will supply Phoenix Pulp & Paper Public Company Limited with a recovery boiler to the company’s pulp and paper mill in the Khon Kaen province in northeast Thailand. Start-up of the boiler is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2010. The order, valued at less than EUR 20 million, is included in Energy and Environmental Technology’s second quarter orders received.

The recovery boiler for black liquor burning is rated at 600 tons/day of dry solids and designed for the future capacity of 750 tons/day of dry solids. The recovery boiler is part of the Phoenix pulp and paper mill modernization project and replaces the mill’s existing recovery boiler built in 1981.

Phoenix Pulp & Paper Public Company Limited produces market grade bleached kraft pulp with annual capacity of about 230,000 metric tons. The company is an affiliate to Siam Cement Group (SCG) Paper, which is the largest integrated producer of paper products in Thailand and a part of Siam Cement Group.
