Metsä Tissue Might Divest or Close Napkin Site in Germany
Print

Espoo, Finland 07 February 2019 -- Metsä Tissue suffered from high costs in 2018, which reportedly affected its napkin business. The company is therefore examining the options for the Stotzheim site in Germany.

Metsä Tissue is not ruling out the possibility of divesting or closing its Stotzheim plant in Germany. The company said it was conducting a strategic review of its napkin business at the site.

It emphasised that it was exploring all options for the future of the napkin business, including the improvement of profitability in the short term, which was the preferred option. However, a divestment or closure of the site was also possible, the company added.

Mestä Tissue complained about a poor profitability of the napkin business and high cost inflation on this market. This was reflected in the company's business results for 2018.
