Mayr Melnhof Karton: MM Kwidzyn Accelerates Path towards CO2 Neutrality with Continuous Digester Investment
Print

MM Kwidzyn is taking a decisive step towards a more sustainable future with the installation of a state-of-the-art continuous digester in its integrated pulp mill, complemented by additional energy improvement measures focusing on the reutilization of residual heat and reducing overall energy consumption. This move, scheduled to become operational in the 4th quarter of 2026, will significantly reduce CO₂ emissions and energy consumption. It will further enhance the cost leadership of MM Kwidzyn for FBB and strengthen the competitiveness in Uncoated Fine Paper, Packaging Kraft Paper and Market Pulp.

The environmental impact will be substantial. Annual CO₂ emissions will decrease by around two-thirds, and the share of green energy in the mill's energy mix will rise to more than 70 %.

Filip Drofiak, Chairman of the Board of MM Kwidzyn, comments: "These improvements not only meet growing customer demand for low-carbon products but also enhance our competitiveness and energy autonomy, securing MM Kwidzyn's position as a leader where sustainability and competitiveness go hand in hand in board, paper and pulp production."

The MM Group is committed to driving sustainable growth across all its operations. The company's strategy focuses on reducing carbon emissions, increasing energy efficiency, and expanding the share of renewable energy in production processes. Through targeted investments in advanced technologies and circular economy principles, MM aims to deliver innovative, eco-friendly packaging and paper solutions that meet the highest environmental standards while ensuring long-term competitiveness.
