Print

AUSTRALIA (From news reports) -- A man has died at the Opal Australian Paper Mill in Victoria's east after allegedly attempting to steal copper.

Emergency services were called to the site in the Latrobe Valley shortly after midnight, Dec. 20.

Police said two men and a woman broke into the facility before being confronted by Opal Australian Paper staff.

When staff surrounded the group, a man and woman managed to flee, but the second man was detained.

The detained man, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The other man is now assisting police with their enquiries, but the woman remains on the run.

Police are investigating the death, but the exact circumstances are yet to be confirmed.

It's believed Opal Australian Paper recently installed new security cameras at its Latrobe Valley site, following a spate of similar breaches at the facility.
