NASHVILLE, Tenn. (News release) - LP Building Solutions (LP), a leading manufacturer of high-performance building products, broke ground on a new LP® SmartSide® ExpertFinish® facility on 75 acres in the Town of Bath, New York, Tuesday morning. The facility, scheduled to be operational by the third quarter of 2023, will bring more than 60 new jobs to the area.

During Tuesday's groundbreaking event hosted by LP, Steuben County IDA, and Empire State Development, more than 50 attendees heard remarks from Steuben County IDA Executive Director James C. Johnson; LP Vice President of Siding Manufacturing Tony Hamill; New York State Senate 58th Senate District Senator Thomas F. O'Mara; New York State Assembly District 132 Assemblymember Philip A. Palmesano; Schuyler County Partnership for Economic Development & Co-Chair of the ST Regional Economic Development Council Executive Director Judy McKinney-Cherry; Steuben County Manager Jack Wheeler; New York State Electric & Gas Manager, Economic Development Joe Rizzo; and Town of Bath Supervisor Ronald Smith.

At the ceremony, LP Vice President of Siding Manufacturing Tony Hamill expressed LP's excitement to join the Bath community and expand the company's prefinished home siding operations in the northeastern United States.

"I am thrilled to be a part of this historic day as we break ground on our first facility in the State of New York," Hamill said. "To support strong customer demand for our products and expand our presence in the Northeast, we are excited to increase our ExpertFinish production capacity when this new facility is operational."

In establishing its first facility in the New York market, LP celebrates breaking ground on its 12th siding facility and 26th manufacturing site across North and South America. The new facility will be designed for future expansions and joins LP's three existing siding prefinishing facilities-LP Roaring River, LP Green Bay, and LP St. Louis.

For over 20 years, LP SmartSide Trim & Siding has provided customers the beauty of traditional wood with the advanced durability of engineered wood. To complement the SmartSide portfolio, ExpertFinish Trim & Siding, the prefinished siding product LP will produce at its Bath site, is available in an array of tailored colors. The ExpertFinish color collection is guaranteed to look great and remain durable for years to come due to a factory finish with acrylic latex paint.

The Southern Tier region of New York is ideally suited for ExpertFinish production due to its proximity to the new construction and repair and remodeling home siding markets in the Northeastern U.S. The company will receive its exterior home siding product at the new facility via rail from its production mills. The material will then be painted, packaged, and distributed via LP's existing network throughout the Northeast and beyond.

"Today would not be possible without the support of Steuben County IDA, Empire State Development, and B&H Railroad," Hamill said. "I would like to personally thank them for helping to bring LP to Steuben County."

"LP is yet another company choosing to expand in the Southern Tier, thanks to regional talent strengths that support success," said Empire State Development President, CEO and Commissioner Hope Knight. "This project also reflects how our strategic incentives for forward-thinking companies help strengthen the economy and create good-paying jobs, both in Steuben County and across New York State."
