Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada 31 May 2017 -- The company invested CAD250m in the conversion project at Trois-Rivières mill. Production of lightweight recycled linerboard launched successfully, says Kruger.

Canada's newsprint, tissue and packaging manufacturer Kruger Inc has completed the start-up phase of its PM 10 recycled containerboard machine at the Trois-Rivières mill in Canada in May. The conversion project was implemented over a period of 20 months and was completed at the total cost of CAD250m.

The former newsprint machine will produce up to 360,000 tpy of lighweight recycled linerboard with basis weights ranging from 88 to 171 g/m². According to Kruger, the machines has a width of 301 inches (7.64 meter) and was thus offering high trim efficiency.

A portion of recycled containerboard produced on PM 10 will be used by Kruger's Canadian packaging plants in LaSalle and Brampton, while the remainder will be sold to corrugated packaging manufacturers across Canada and the United States.
