Interfor to Acquire Additional Timber in Pacific Northwest
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, 18 February 2008 -- International Forest Products Limited (Interfor; TSX: IFP.A) announced today it has reached an agreement to acquire a timber tenure in the Kamloops region currently owned by Weyerhaeuser Company Limited having an Allowable Annual Cut (AAC) of approximately 356,000 cubic meters.

The tenure will strengthen Interfor’s long-term timber supply in the region and help to offset anticipated declines in future supply as a result of the mountain pine beetle infestation. The acquisition will benefit Interfor’s sawmill at Adams Lake and the communities associated with that operation.

The transaction is subject to various regulatory reviews. Terms of the transaction remain confidential.

In a related transaction, certain other tenures, including a Tree Farm Licence and Forest Licence held by Weyerhaeuser in the Kamloops region with an approximate AAC of 400,000 cubic meters will be acquired by West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd.

Interfor is one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest producers of quality wood products. The company has operations in Canada (British Columbia) and the United States (Washington and Oregon), including three sawmills in the Coastal region of British Columbia, one in the British Columbia Interior, one in Washington, and two in Oregon. Interfor is currently in the process of acquiring two sawmills in the southeastern British Columbia Interior from Pope & Talbot Inc. In addition, Interfor operates value-added remanufacturing and specialty products facilities in British Columbia and Washington.
