Port Mellon, British Columbia, Canada, 27 May 2009 -- Howe Sound Pulp and Paper Limited Partnership (HSPP) announced today that due to continued poor paper markets it will shut down its newsprint operations and kraft pulp from 05-15 June, removing 6500 metric tons from production.

HSPP operates a kraft pulp and newsprint mill at Port Mellon, British Columbia, with an annual production capacity of 400,000 metric tons of pulp and 230,000 metric tons of newsprint.
