Holmen Timber Takes the Next Step
Print

Stockholm, Sweden 26 September 2014 -- Holmen has decided to invest a total of SEK 55 million in its two sawmills, one in Iggesund and the other in Braviken, Norrköping.

At Iggesund Sawmill, production capacity will be increased by 15 per cent to 400 000 cubic metres through a redesign and expansion of the timber sorting section. This investment will be implemented in summer 2015.

Braviken Sawmill, which currently produces construction timber in spruce, will also be able to process pine once the investment here is complete. This will provide greater flexibility in the supply of raw materials and allow wider procurement of raw materials locally within the region. The catchment area will thus be reduced, bringing down transport costs. The plan is to begin sawing two species of wood in 2015.
