Print

Norcross, Georgia, USA 13 March 2015 -- Georgia-Pacific today announced it reached an agreement with RoyOMartin for the transfer of its Mexia, Alabama, Rocky Creek lumber operations to Georgia-Pacific. Terms of the deal are undisclosed, and the closing of the transaction is expected soon.

"We are eager to add the Rocky Creek facility to our other lumber operations," said Fritz Mason, vice president and general manager for Georgia-Pacific lumber. "This facility is a high-quality asset with a team of talented employees, and we're looking forward to combining best practices so we can enhance our ability to serve new and existing customers and become the lumber supplier of choice."

The Rocky Creek lumber facility employs approximately 110 people and it makes a variety of products from southern yellow pine, including dimension lumber, heavy studs, squares/timbers and barn timbers. The facility was constructed in 2001 and acquired by RoyOMartin in 2006.

The Rocky Creek mill is located near several other Georgia-Pacific facilities in Alabama, including a particleboard plant in Monroeville; Alabama River Cellulose in Perdue Hill; and a containerboard and bleach board facility in Brewton.
