Fire department assists Domtar fire crews fighting a smouldering fire
Print

KAMLOOPS, B.C. (From news reports) -- Kamloops Fire and Rescue crews assisted crews from Domtar to fight a smoldering fire just west of the Mission Flats landfill Thursday (July 1).

KFR Captain Wade Lindoff says they were called out about 6:30 PM Thursday to assist after a fire broke out in an area used by Domtar to dump some of the byproducts from their operation. They cover the material with bark mulch to keep dust down.

Lindoff says the fire was about 150 feet by 50 feet and was extinguished fairly quickly. He says Domtar crews monitored the area overnight to ensure it didn't flare up.
