Comment Print

Valmet will deliver a comprehensive recovery boiler upgrade to Fibre Excellence Provence mill in Tarascon, Southern France. The upgrade will have a significant impact on the performance of the customer's recovery boiler, according to Valmet. The cost of the order was not disclosed.

The recovery boiler upgrade is necessary for the optimal performance of the mill's new evaporation unit that will be started up by the end of 2023. The modernization will also support the future capacity increase of the mill.

"We value the partnership with Valmet and the support we have received for the development of our mill over the years. It was easy to team up with Valmet again for the recovery boiler upgrade as we have solid trust in their technology and the proposed solution," says Mathieu Deleplanque, Project and Development Manager at Fibre Excellence Provence.

"We are happy to continue our good co-operation with Fibre Excellence Provence mill. Thanks to the open communication and trust we have built over the years, we are able to discuss the customer's needs in detail and provide solutions that best fit their performance and environmental targets," says Reto Vollmer, Manager, Sales and Operations, EMEA, Valmet.

Valmet's delivery includes the design, manufacturing, installation, and start-up support for a modern secondary air system with related equipment and pressure parts, a primary air preheater, black liquor preheaters and related piping, as well as black liquor pumps and related piping.

Fibre Excellence Provence recently inaugurates new BioWatt green electricity turbine at Provence site. This project represents an investment of Euro 53 million, as part of Fibre Excellence Provence's overall investment plan of Euro 180 million, aiming to bring the site up to the highest industrial and environmental standards, and thus ensure the plant's long-term future.

Fibre Excellence manages pulp production, biomass energy production and timber harvesting activities in Southern France. At its Provence mill located in Tarascon, Fibre Excellence produces around 250,000 tons of pulp per year for filter paper, hygiene and packaging products. Inaugurated in 1951, the mill has been continuously modernized to improve its performance and to meet the changing environmental regulation.
