Corner Brook Pulp and Paper ceasing production on No. 7 machine for 11 days
Print
CANADA (From news reports) -- Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Limited will be shutting down one of its two paper machines for 11 days.
The No. 7 machine will shut down Sunday so the mill can carry out a major upgrade work on its main boiler.
According to a press release issued by Kruger Inc., the mill's Montreal-based parent company, this is the third and final year of works on the mill's main boiler.
During this downtime, the company said affected employees will be reassigned to either maintenance or other tasks, including training.
The No. 2 paper machine will remain in operation while No. 7 is down.
According to the paper company, the 11-day maintenance shutdown will also restore balance in its order book due to currently unfavorable newsprint market conditions.
Production on No. 7 is scheduled to resume Nov. 14.
