Western Forest Products Annual and Special Meeting

Duncan, British Columbia, Canada, 13 June 2006 -- /PRNewswire/ -- Western Forest Products Inc. (TSX: WEF) today confirmed its annual and special meeting would be held on 16 June 2006. Links to the presentation materials are posted at www.westernforest.com.

Western will generally review operating initiatives currently underway including progress with the integration of the former Cascadia Forest Products Ltd. operations that were acquired and amalgamated with Western on 01 May 2006, and the Englewood Logging Division operations that were acquired in March 2006. These initiatives include staff reductions of approximately 15%, timberlands reorganization, and some of the integration activities underway to achieve the estimated CAD 71 million in annual synergies.

Western Forest Products

Western is an integrated Canadian forest products company. Principal activities conducted by Western and its subsidiaries include timber harvesting, reforestation, sawmilling logs into lumber and wood chips, and value-added remanufacturing. Substantially all of Western's logging is conducted on government-owned timberlands in British Columbia. All of Western's operations, employees, and corporate facilities are located in the coastal region of British Columbia. Its products are sold in more than 20 countries worldwide. Western is the largest Coastal British Columbia woodland operator and lumber producer with an annual allowable cut of approximately 7.7 million cubic meters of timber and lumber capacity in excess of 1.5 billion board feet from nine sawmills and five remanufacturing plants.
