UPM to Reduce Staffing
Print
Helsinki, Finland, 16 April 2010 – Employee negotiations at UPM Kymi and Kaukas mill, started in February, concerning improving the mills' competitiveness through new ways of operating, have concluded. New ways of operating include increasing the co-operation between departments and use of common resources between mills.

As a result of the negotiations, the number of mill personnel at Kymi and Kaukas will be reduced by 200 persons, of which 147 are shop-floor employees and 33 salaried employees. The reductions will mainly take place in 2010. Nearly half of the reductions can be achieved by using various pension schemes.
