Sinar Mas to Raise China's Paper Output

Jakarta, Indonesia, 25 October 2010 -- (Asia In Focus) -- Indonesia's Sinar Mas Group (JSX:SMAR) plans to invest around IDR 10 trillion (USD 1.11 billion) to increase its paper production capacity in Qinzhon, China. Sinar Mas's subsidiary, Asia Pulp and Paper Co., Ltd., has a paper and pulp factory in Qinzhon with a production capacity of 600,000 tons of paper and 1.8 million tons of pulp.

* Sinar Mas plans to expand its paper production capacity to 3.1 million tons, said Wei Peng, deputy director of the administration committee for Qinzhon Economic Zone expansion.

* Indonesia's largest paper producer with a total capacity of 2.68 million tons of papers, has a number of pulp and paper producing subsidiaries in the country with a total.
