Print
Schaumburg, Illinois, USA, 22 May 2007 -- /PRNewswire/ -- Pliant Corporation today announced a settlement of a patent dispute with MSC Marketing & Technology Inc. d/b/a Sigma Stretch Film and Alpha Industries regarding Pliant's patent for prestretched hand wrap film.

Terms of the agreement and financial terms of the settlement are confidential, but the parties are pleased to announce that the agreement includes a license to Sigma Stretch Film and Alpha Industries of U.S. Patent No. 5,531,393.

Pliant leverages the technology protected by the patent in its WinWrap(R) line of ultra-high yield, prestretched hand wraps. WinWrap(R) combines the patented prestretch and reinforced edge design with air entrapment technology to provide users with outstanding stiffness and toughness.

"We are encouraged by the strength of our patent and by the continuing demand in the marketplace for Pliant's WinWrap(R) product, which embodies the patent," said Stephen T. Auburn, general counsel of Pliant. "We are happy with the results of this agreement and will continue to protect the value created by our intellectual property."
