Richmond, Virginia, USA, 05 January 2009 — MeadWestvaco Corporation (NYSE: MWV) will release its fourth quarter and 2008 results on 28 January, before the market opens. The news release for the results will be available on MWV’s Web site at www.mwv.com.

The company will host its fourth quarter and 2008 results conference call on 28 January 28, at 10:00 a.m. (Eastern Time) with access available via Internet and telephone. The event is scheduled for one hour. John A. Luke, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer; James A. Buzzard, president; E. Mark Rajkowski, chief financial officer; and Jason Thompson, director, investor relations, will review the results. Following the review, questions will be taken from registered analysts and investors.
