Worker injured on Weyerhaeuser land in Oregon


EUGENE, Oregon (From news reports) -- A logger was injured in a logging accident Tuesday (16 June) on private timberland east of Eugene.

Rescue teams from the Lowell Fire Department, Dexter Fire Department and Lane Fire Authority responded to the 1:17 p.m. call, said Lowell Fire Chief Lon Dragt. An air ambulance flew the logger to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend after firefighters extricated him.

The name of the logger and the extent of his injuries was not immediately available.

The logging accident took place on land owned by timber giant Weyerhaeuser, Dragt said, about halfway between Vida and Lowell.
