Voith Paper to Supply Fine Paper Production Line to Moorim Paper Group

Heidenheim, Germany, 11 September 2009 -- Moorim Paper Group has awarded a contract to Voith Paper to deliver a new integrated paper production line for woodfree coated, machine-finished coated, and woodfree uncoated paper grades to their DongHae pulp mill in Ulsan, South Korea. The new machine will use mainly the pulp produced at this site, whereby Moorim will be the first integrated pulp and paper mill in South Korea.

The integrated mill will be environmentally friendly and will not use fossil fuel under normal operation conditions. All in all, this project strongly supports Voith Paper’s Green Technology focus, making the best possible contribution to cost-effective and environmentally friendly paper production lines.

The new DongHae PM 1 is based on the One Platform Concept and corresponds. The machine has a wire width of 9300 mm and a design speed of 1500 m/min. It is designed to produce fine papers in a basis weight range of 75-150 g/m² with an annual output of approximately 450,000 tons.

After start-up of the new PM 1, which is scheduled for spring 2011, Moorim Paper Group’s overall production output for fine paper will exceed 1 million tons, making the company the biggest fine paper producer in South Korea. This includes the output of the already existing fine paper production lines of Jinju mill (PM 1 to PM 3) and of Daegu mill (PM 1 and PM 2).

The main scope of delivery of DongHae PM 1 includes the complete paper machine, an offline coater, and two Janus calenders. It also includes a VariPlus and a VariFlex winder production of a broad range of roll sizes.

In addition, the complete basic engineering for the scope of supply of the production line, assembly, and start-up supervision round off the scope of delivery. With this machine Voith Paper will reinforce the strong position of Moorim Paper Group in the fine paper business.
