Voith Paper Sells Shoe Press to Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Paper

Heidenheim, Germany, 13 October 2008 -- The 400th NipcoFlex shoe press has been sold by Voith Paper to Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Paper, in Chennai, India. It is part of the mill's new PM 3, which will manufacture high-quality woodfree writing and printing papers on a wire width of 6.1 m at a maximum speed of 1200 m/min.

PM 3 is equipped by Voith with a Tandem-NipcoFlex Press Section, which combines the dewatering capacity of two NipcoFlex Shoe Presses with bulk-protecting pressing, completely without the traditional roll nip. The Nipco-P backing rolls for the shoe roll are equipped with the new, grooved stainless-steel cover.

For Tamil Nadu this is already the fourth shoe press after the rebuilds of PM 1 and PM 2 in 2002.
