Uniboard's New Moncure MDF Mill is Certified to California Product Emissions Standards
Laval, Quebec, Canada, 29 April 2010 -- /PRNewswire/ -- Uniboard, a North American manufacturer ofd engineered wood products, is pleased to announce that its new Moncure MDF facility, located in North Carolina, has been certified to meet CARB Phase 1 emission standards. The Composite Panel Association (CPA) certified the plant, which is now in start-up process, after determining that it had completed and fulfilled the requirements of CPA 3-08 specification for Environmentally Preferable Products California (CARB) Airborne Toxic Control Measure 93120.

In 2008, California adopted a resolution to address formaldehyde exposure from composite wood products through the establishment of emissions controls. The new rule set upper limits on formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products sold in the state or used to make finished goods offered for sale in the state. The first phase of the regulation, known as CARB Phase 1, took effect on 01 January 2009. All Uniboard products are 100% compliant with CARB Phase 1.
