Speaking of energy, and biomass, If someone made me place a bet, I would bet on algae. What I like about algae is its own apparent efficiency. It does not waste energy in building a structure to capture nutrients from the surrounding matter, it does not build a structure to resist wind and storms, and it is in the water already. Looks like algae may be the most efficient biomass of all.
