In 2020, we reported 142 closures and cutbacks, which was a 30.28 % increase from 2019. Most of the closures and cutbacks for 2020 were for mills that produced newsprint, uncoated freesheet paper or sawmills. In 2019, the majority of closures and cutbacks were for mills in similar categories.

In 2020, we reported 67 new capital projects stories of note. The direction the industry is trending toward is fairly obvious.
