Tetra Pak to Close One Production Line in Spain

Pully Switzerland 21 March 2019 -- Packaging manufacturer Tetra Pak is reducing capacity at its Spanish plant in Arganda del Rey near Madrid.

During the six months of 2019, one of two production lines at the site is to be shut down. According to a statement by Tetra Pak, about 54 employees are affected by the closure, representing about 16 per cent of the total workforce.

The company decided to shut down the line because it cannot be upgraded in order to meet market requirements. Tetra Pak did not provide any information on the total capacity of the plant, but told EUWID that the closure would not lead to any impairment in the supply of customers. The Arganda del Rey plant, which started operation in 1970, specialises in the production of cardboard packaging.
