SP Newsprint to Take Market-Related Downtime

Greenwich, Connecticut, USA, 16 December 2008 -- /PRNewswire/ -- SP Newsprint Co., LLC announced today that it will take market-related downtime at its two paper mills in the first quarter of 2009. The planned shut-downs will result in approximately 25,000 metric tons of reduced newsprint production. The specific downtime taken at each mill will be determined on the basis of manufacturing and delivery costs at the time. Additional downtime will be taken throughout the year as required by market conditions. SP Newsprint will maintain adequate inventories to ensure that its customers will not experience any service interruptions during the shut-downs.
