Södra Sells its Follafoss Pulp Mill

Stockholm, Sweden 11 June 2013 -- In 2012 Södra Cell took the decision to divest the Follafoss pulp mill. Production at the mill ceased at the end of October/beginning of November 2012. Discussions about selling the mill got under way just before Christmas, a declaration of intent was issued at the end of December and an agreement has now been reached with Mayr Melnhof Karton.

Södra's pulp mill in Follafoss manufactures CTMP pulp (chemi-thermomechanical pulp) and has a capacity of just over 100,000 tpy.

The Mayr-Melnhof Group, headquartered in Vienna, is the largest producer of coated recycled cardboard with a growing position in virgin fibre-based board as well as the  leading European manufacturer of folding cartons.
