Powerflute’s Savon Sellu Mill to Rebuild Packaging Line

Kuopio,  Finland, 05 May 2011 -- Powerflute’s Savon Sellu mill will halt production for almost two weeks in May for its annual maintenance standstill. During this standstill, Savon Sellu will rebuild its packaging line. The new, fully-automated packaging line is from Saimatec Engineering and can handle rolls up to 3600 mm, making Savon Sellu the first semichemical fluting producer to embrace the emerging trend for wider corrugators.

"Following our EUR 2.5 million investment in fiber treatment in August, we continue to focus on improved quality and customer service," said Juha Koukka, CEO of Savon Sellu. "This is all part of our ongoing capital expenditure program intended to cement our position as the supplier of the best semichemical fluting in the world. As the first producer to properly pack and protect wide rolls, we are taking an important step in implementing our customer-focused strategy. We have listened to our customers carefully and studied market trends - wider rolls represent an important step in the efficiency development for the whole industry."
