L'Anse, Michigan, USA, 21 June 2006 –- Plum Creek Timber Company has started construction on a new office building that will incorporate some local flavor.

"We are pleased to be able to build a permanent home for Plum Creek's operations in L'Anse," said Mark Sherman, Plum Creek's resource supervisor of L'Anse operations in Michigan. "This building will not only allow us to better serve our customers in this community, but it will also exhibit the exceptional work of our local builders and the beautiful timber from this region."

Northern white cedar logs harvested in the Upper Peninsula and milled near Escanaba will be used for the new log building, which is located south of L'Anse off US 41, and is across the road from Plum Creek's current location on Mead Road, Route 2. A L'Anse-based contractor and local electricians, plumbers, carpenters and excavators will be involved with the project. The new building will house more than 10 employees and provide space for expansion. In addition to the offices, the new location will include a log yard that will be used to gather and sell Plum Creek's quality veneer and sawlogs.

Construction began on 30 May. The building is slated for completion in mid-August 2006.
