Pöyry to Provide EPCM and Engineering Services to Mills in Brazil


Helsinki, Finland, 18 August 2006 -- Pöyry's Forest Industry business group has been commissioned to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM), and owner's engineering services for Klabin's and Aracruz's mills in Brazil. The total value of the contracts is about EUR 20 million.

Klabin S/A has assigned Pöyry to provide balance-of-plant and owner´s
engineering services for the Monte Alegre mill in Telemaco Borba, state
of Paraná. The project is designed to increase the annual production of
paper products from 700 000 metric tons to 1.1 million metric tons. It includes a new board production line, a chemithermomechanical pulp plant, a lime kiln, a turbogenerator, a new bleaching plant, a recovery boiler, and a power boiler.

Aracruz Celulose S/A has assigned Pöyry to provide balance-of-plant and owner´s engineering services for the optimization of the Aracruz mill in Barra do Riacho, state of Espírito Santo. The project will increase the mill's annual capacity from 2.13 million metric tons to 2.33 million metric tons by increasing the production capacity of fiber line C and improving the productivity and efficiency of fiber lines A and B.

Pöyry has participated in the development of these projects during the
conceptual and feasibility phases as well as basic engineering.
