Memphis, Tennessee, USA 11 December 2013 --The US International Paper Co., one of the world’s largest paper producers, may revise its plans of expansion in the Chinese market during the next several years, due to unfavourable market conditions, according to Chairman and CEO of the co John V. Faraci.

Faraci said that the Chinese paper products market there already faces a problem with overcapacity, and it is unclear whether it makes sense to try to make a further push there for growth.

In this regard, the company has not ruled out the possibility to pay more attention to the expansion in the markets of other emerging nations and in particular Brazil, India and Russia.International Paper is now the No. 2 supplier by volume and revenue of coated paperboard in China after entering the market with a joint venture in 2006 and again with a $200 million acquisition in 2010.
