Graphic Packaging to close facility in Norwalk, Ohio


NORWALK, Ohio (From news reports) -- Graphic Packaging International recently told about 30 workers it'll soon close its converting operations on Republic Street off Milan Avenue (U.S. 250).

Headquartered in Georgia, the Fortune 500 company designs and makes packaging for commercial products.

"We're one of the largest manufacturers of paperboard and paper-based packaging for some of the world's most recognized brands of food, beverage, foodservice, household, personal care and pet care products," according to a company statement.

• "After assessing the company's overall converting portfolio, the most cost-effective outcome was to consolidate Norwalk production into Graphic Packaging's broader network of plants."

• "We anticipate that the closure will be completed by the end of May 2022."

• "We are committed to assisting our approximately 30 employees over the next four to six weeks. They are encouraged to apply for other positions at Graphic Packaging, as we have other facilities within 60 to 90 miles of Norwalk. We also will provide outplacement services."

• "We have operational plans to ensure there is no supply disruption to our customers."
