Fire Damages RR Donnelley Facility

Harrisonburg, Virginia, USA 19 October 2016 -- (From news reports) -- A Tuesday night fire damaged the RR Donnelley building in Harrisonburg.

Crews responded to the facility at 1025 Willow Springs Road at 9:15 p.m., Harrisonburg Fire Department Chief Ian Bennett said.

The blaze broke out near machinery around paper bales off a loading dock, Bennett said. Crews were on the scene for about two hours.

Bennett did not know the cause or have a damage estimate on Tuesday.

Crews could be seen working in a room filled with smoke.

Bennett said the fire did not spread to any other rooms.

A few employees were in the building when the fire started, Bennett said, but everyone evacuated and no one was injured.

Bennett said every HFD crew in the city responded to the scene. Hose Co. No. 4, Harrisonburg Rescue Squad and the Rockingham County, Bridgewater and McGaheysville fire departments assisted at the scene.

Crews from Grottoes, Weyers Cave and Broadway filled Harrisonburg stations while crews worked the scene.
