Helsinki, Finland, 01 October 2007 -– Botnia's pulp mill in Uruguay is technically nearly completed. The start-up process of the mill will commence as soon as the permit procedure is finalized and Uruguayan authorities give their permission.

Originally, the startup was scheduled to take place during the third quarter of 2007. The timing of the start-up will not materially affect UPM's financial results for 2007. Botnia is UPM's associated company.
