Voith Paper City Expanding in Kunshan, China


Heidenheim, Germany, 12 December 2007 -- The Voith Paper City in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, Peoples Republic of China is growing. On 08 November 2007, Voith Paper Rolls China broke ground at the Industrial Park Of Kunshan (KSND) for a large Asian Voith Paper Rolls operation that will open in October 2008. The facility will produce high tech roll covers and will offer an increasing portfolio of roll services compared to the previous Kunshan facilities that will close at that time.

In May 2003, Voith Paper Rolls started to serve the Chinese and Asia Pacific paper industry with high-end roll covers, mechanical roll services, and roll cover regrinding out of its service facilities in Kunshan and in Dongying, Shandong province.

In October 2007, the opening ceremony took place after the first construction phase had been completed for the new Voith Paper Technology and Service Center. Now, the second phase has started with the building of the manufacturing plants for Voith paper rolls and Voith paper fabrics. The new Voith paper roll’s plant will be located at the same area in Kunshan named by Voith as “Voith Paper City” and next door to the new Voith paper fabrics operation that will open at the same time. By combining the know-how of the entire papermaking process in one location, Voith Paper will be well-prepared to provide system solutions and services to all domestic and Asia Pacific customers in an even more focused and efficient way.
