The coming fiscal cliff in the United States, perpetrated by a Congress unwilling to do its job, is irresponsible and dangerous.  Right now, no one can tell you what is going to happen to US tax rates in less than three months.  This is causing all sorts of aberrant decisions to be made.  The short term economic fix is for Congress to fix this problem.  It is irresponsible to let it languish.
